Christingle 2008

This year Christingle was celebrated at Candlemas, and also coincided with the use of a digital projector, which was used to present a paperless service. The family service was lead by Curate Derek with the “How do you make a Christingle” section explained by Reader Gaynor and three of the young people who appeared as a candle, an orange and a stick with lots of fruit and veg! The projector was used not only to provide text but also provided images as a backdrop to parts of the service and was used by Vicar John to illustrate his theme of “light not being overcome by the darkness” with images of situations which gave rise to hope.

The Christingles were given to members of the congregation by teenagers who had lead the prayers, and also by the ministry team. In all sixty Christingles were distributed and well received. Donations will be used to support the work of Plant Dewi in the Diocese. The service was followed by delicious cakes and coffee.
